This is exciting: a piano sonata I wrote a few years ago, based on “Closer”, by Nine Inch Nails (warning: linked original song is not safe for work), is featured on AltoRiot.com!
Check it out here:
This feature of “Classical Cover” is quite a diamond in the rough as we take a listen to Nine Inch Nails’ iconic “banned-from-MTV” hit, “Closer.” Arranged and performed by Alison Rush, the Sonata in D minor is not necessarily a remix of NIN’s seminal masterpiece, but more so a complete rework of the rawness of human nature while maintaining Reznor’s original dark undertones.
The sonata sounds almost unlike anything from the original source and is completely unique onto itself. If there is any testament to the inspiration that Trent Reznor’s has stirred up with his fans, this would be it!
Nine Inch Nails’ new album Hesitation Marks comes out this September on Columbia Records and look to alisonrush.com for additional creative covers performed on the ukulele.
Here’s the sonata on YouTube.
